Dr. Georgescu was born in Bucharest, Romania. After graduation from medical school, he entered into the surgical
residency program. In parallel, starting with the final year of medical school, he worked as an instructor of anatomy.
He pursued his academic career as an assistant professor of
anatomy, involved in teaching and research, while
continuing his training in surgery with the specific focus on abdominal and oncologic surgery.

With a great deal of passion and dedication, he spent his initial years learning from Masters in surgery while
building a strong foundation in anatomy. He did this through an unusually intense devotion and hard work performing
tireless hours of dissection and teaching. He passed the Board Examination in Surgery, ranking 2nd in the country,
in 1986 and continued to work as a surgeon another 3 years in Romania.

In 1989, he came to the United States, passed all of the required examinations and was accepted into the surgical
residency program in Brooklyn, New York. With the same energy and enthusiasm as during his first residency in Romania,
he completed his U.S. residency and passed his Boards in General Surgery. After completion of his residency program,
he moved to Denver, Colorado in 1994. Finally all of his hard work, training and dedication paid off, allowing him
to perform surgeries covering a large array of pathology in vascular, thoracic and abdominal surgery. He continues
to maintain a great deal of interest in oncological and gastrointestinal surgery and developed skills in the evolving
field of advanced laparoscopic surgery. In addition, Dr. Georgescu is part of an integrated team performing anterior
access of the spine in surgical procedures for spinal fractures, degeneration, deformities and tumors.

The emerging epidemic of obesity and the value of surgery for this condition incited Dr. Georgescu to become interested
in learning more about this field. With his characteristic energy and enthusiasm, he has spent time in additional
training for these procedures. He has learned from experienced surgeons in this country, as well as renowned surgeons
in the field of bariatric surgery in Europe and Mexico. He had the privilege to spend time in Belgium with Dr. Mitiku
Belachew, one of the fathers of the Lap-Band procedure. He is, at the present time, completely committed do growing
the bariatric program he started at the Center of Surgical Specialists. With this new passion, he decided to create
the bariatric program.
